Menagerie Mix-Up Bear Card

8 / 9 / 208 / 9 / 20

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a project made for a  Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  The sketch gave me a lot of inspiration to come up with the final design of the card and gave me a good reason to play with the newly released Menagerie Mix-Up bundle.  What an adorably cute set!

This was among the many new bundles, just released on Aug 4.  If you haven’t seen the new Aug-Dec catty, check it out here.

Menagerie Mix Up Bear Balloon Card2

The card base is made with a Whisper White thick card stock.  I added a layer of regular Whisper White, cut at 5 1/2 and 4 1/4 and then embossed it with the new Wrapped In Texture folder, to create the background.

I used the Be Mine Stitched dies to create the scalloped edges and added a strip of Playing with Patterns DSP on top.  A stitched square in Coastal Cabana was also cut out.

The cute bear and balloons are from the Menagerie Mix-Ups stamp set and the dies.  The little guy was coloured with Crumb Cake blends and the balloon with Highland Heather blends.

The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Birthdays.

How cute is this set!  There are so many options to make cute animals for any occasion!

Hippo Happiness Silhouette Card

7 / 22 / 207 / 24 / 20

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a project made for a TGIF Challenges.  I have to admit, this one was a bit daunting for me, as the technique “silhouette effects” is not something I practice often.   I believe most stampers would choose a nice sunset, flower or landscape silhouette.  Not sure why, but the first thing that came to mind, was a cow jumping over the moon?!

I didn’t find a cow stamp but the fun Hippo Happiness bundle provided lots of other cute animals to play with!

Hippo Happiness Silhouette

The night time background was made with a masking technique (for the white moon) and sponging using Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue inks.

The unicorn silhouettes were stamped using the Hippo Happiness stamp set.  A bit of Wink of Stella was spattered on too, to create a starry sky.  This was then cut out with a rectangle stitched shape die and matted onto a Playing with Patterns DSP and Basic Black card stock.

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed on Basic Black.  Finally, I added a Coastal Cabana bow and Basic Rhinestones to complete the look.

Peony Watercolour Card With Heat Emboss Resist

6 / 22 / 206 / 22 / 20

Hi stampers!  Today’s card showcases an amazing heat emboss resist technique with water colouring, using Stampin’ Up’s new Prized Peony stamp set.

I’m also participating in this week’s Freshly Made Sketches  challenge.   The challenge is to follow the sketch while keeping the project clean-lined and fresh.  What I love about this, is that there are so many ways to interpret the sketch and be creative!  With further ado, here is this week’s sketch.

Drum roll for the result please….

The card is made with a Whisper White base, matted with Old Olive card stock.  Shimmery White paper is used for main card face.  It was heat embossed with Versamark and White embossing powder, with the single flower from Prized Peony stamp set.  It was stamped twice.  The flowers are  water coloured in different shades of Melon Mambo ink and the splatters are with Old Olive ink.

The sentiment was also heat embossed and cut out with the Stitched Nested Label dies.  To finish the look, Gold metallic pearls and trim were added.

Here is a close-up of the card:

Butterfly Beauty Watercolour Card

6 / 21 / 206 / 21 / 20

Time for me to share a handmade card creation from a design challenge!  I love these challenges because it gives me a great way to create and have fun doing it.  I also love to see what others come up with too!

This challenge came from the Global Design Project and includes a color combination of Just Jade, Bumble Bee and Magenta Madness.  I also used Stampin’ Up’s new annual catty for some further inspiration.

When I first saw the colour challenge, I knew right away that I had to use the large butterflies from the Butterfly Beauty dies to show off the different colours.

I die cut both the front layer and back layer of the butterflies using watercolour paper.  I used the 3 re-inkers (Just Jade, Bumble Bee and Magenta Madness) and water coloured them onto both layers of paper.  I made sure to vary the intensity of the colours, to show off the beauty of the detailed cuts.

The Playful Alphabet dies were used to cut out the THANKS, similar to a picture in the annual catty.  I just love how the letters pop out, using the new adhesive foam sheets!  The sentiment was taken from the matching Beauty Abounds stamp set.

I hope you enjoyed this creative challenge card post.  To see more of my designs, please check out the Ideas section.  If you’d like more information, please check out my About page or e-mail me.  I would love to hear from you with any feedback.

Watercolouring & Honey Bee Bundle

5 / 20 / 206 / 21 / 20

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a project made for a TGIF Challenges with one of my favourite card making techniques….watercolouring!   I just love playing with ink colours in water, as there are so many looks that can be achieved.  The neat thing is that each look turns out uniquely different and no card looks the same.  It completely depends on how the water and the ink come together on paper, each and every time.

I have chosen to showcase the Honey Bee  stamp set and dies from Stampin’ Up’s mini spring catalogue.  One of my favourites!  I am a sucker for anything related to honey and bees!  Something to do with my childhood love for Winnie the Pooh, I think!?

So, lets get started…. here is the challenge:

Drum roll for the result please…

Bee Mine Card 2

The background was made, with some help by my 8 year old daughter!  She loved doing all the smooshing, painting and splattering, using Crushed Curry and Whisper White inks mixed with water.  She did a fantastic job, didn’t she?  Sometimes children are the best at watercolouring because of the fun and open creativity, that comes natural to them!

The sentiment stamped was stamped and heat embossed on Basic Black.  The bees and honeycomb were stamped and cut from the stamps and matching dies.  Finally, I added a natural twine bow, to complete the look.

UPDATE:  I’m super excited to announce that this card was chosen as one of the Challenge winners.  I’m so humbled to be chosen by such a talented group of artists.  Thank you so much TGIFC!  Please check out the winning announcement here.

Well Said Handmade Thank You Card

5 / 17 / 205 / 16 / 20

I’m participating in this week’s Freshly Made Sketches  challenge, where their talented designers create a sketch for us to try.   The challenge is to follow the sketch while keeping the project clean-lined and fresh.  What I love about this, is that there are so many ways to interpret the sketch and be creative!  With further ado, here is this week’s sketch:

Well Written Well Said Card 3

The card is made with a Whisper White base.  The diagonal line design is incorporated using a piece of the whimsical Bird Ballad designer series paper (which is on sale right now!) and a Pool Party stitched scalloped border.

The horizontal line design is incorporated with the sentiment label.  “FOR EVERYTHING” is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed in black powder.  This stamp is from the Well Said stamp set – a super versatile set with all the popular card greetings.  The Well Written “thanks” die is used to add some layering and pop-out interest.

Here is a close-up of the card:

Well Written Well Said Card 4

I had so much fun with this sketch, that I created another card using the Best Dressed DSP.  Not only is this DSP super stylish but it can be used to create so many different looks, using its florals, handbags, stripes and polka dots.

Creative Challenge with Pinwheels & Purple Posy Handmade Card

5 / 16 / 206 / 21 / 20

Time for me to share a handmade card creation from a design challenge!  I love these challenges because it gives me a great way to create and have fun doing it.  I also love to see what others come up with too!

This challenge came from the Global Design Project and this week was a CASE Challenge from card the designer Kerstin Kreis!  Pinwheels and polka dots were so much fun to incorporate!

Drum roll for the result please….

Pinwheel Card 1

I used a mixture of Stampin’ Up  products for this one but I wanted to showcase the Purple Posy colour, which is one of my favourite In Colours.

The background is made from the pretty Best Dressed designer series paper and a fun stitched scalloped border die from the Stitched Be Mine dies. The sentiment is from the Daisy Lane stamp set and was heat embossed in Silver.

I incorporated a fun pinwheel, which was made with vellum paper.  The stitched heart and ribbons were added to creating a nice layering effect.  To tie it all together and add some bling…Rhinestones as my “polka dots” from the original CASE card design!

We’ll Walrus Be Friends Handmade Birthday Card

8 / 31 / 198 / 31 / 19

I’m participating in this week’s Freshly Made Sketches  challenge, which is a sketch to inspire a card layout…something I totally appreciate, when I start a new project.  I also chose to use a super cute stamp set from Stampin’ Up…’We’ll Walrus Be Friends’ – one that I’ve been dying to play with since I picked it up because of the cute walruses.

img_0742

Drum roll for the result please….

ezy watermark_31-08-2019_01-02-52am

I used a mixture of Stampin’ Up  tools and techniques to make this card!

The card is made with a Whisper White base.  The larger matted white background was created using the High Seas 3D embossing folder, matted on Coastal Cabana card stock.

The smaller background was created with 3 ink colours: Pacific Point, Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana, using a watercolouring spritzer technique.  Then I layered on Silver Metallic ink splatters for extra shimmer (because who doesn’t like shimmer?!)  I just love how the colours in the background all came together to create a water look for the cute (sleeping?) walrus!

ezy watermark_31-08-2019_01-03-14am

The walrus and sentiment were stamped from  ‘We’ll Walrus Be Friends’ set and coloured using Blends markers.  I added a Poppy Red stitched heart from the Stitched Label dies.  To tie it all together and add some bling, I added a few Basic Rhinestones and a white twine ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed this creative challenge card post.  To see more of my designs, please check out the Ideas section.  If you’d like more information, please check out my About page or e-mail me.  I would love to hear from you with any feedback.

Time for me to share a handmade card creation from a design challenge!  I love these challenges because it gives me a great way to create and have fun doing it.  I also love to see what others come up with too!

This challenge came from the Global Design Project and this week was a Theme Challenge….Sun, Moon and Stars!  Since I’ve been looking forward to the end of summer, I’ve been dreaming about my end of summer vacay.  So, my creation is inspired by good dreams.

Drum roll for the result please….

ezy watermark_30-08-2019_11-59-12pm

I used a mixture of Stampin’ Up  tools for this one!  The embossing and stitched background frame is cut from the Stitched Labels dies.  The sentiment is from the Little Twinkle.  I used the Starburst, Pretty Label and Twinkle Builder punches for lots of layering effects.  To tie it all together and add some bling, I added a strip of Metallic Edge Ribbon and Rhinestones.

ezy watermark_30-08-2019_11-59-41pm

Oh how I love the soft colour combination too!  Thank goodness for Stampin’ Up’s colour coach of Purple Posy, Smokey Slate and Pool Party.  What a “dreamy combo”!

UPDATE:  I’m super excited to announce that this card was chosen as one of the Challenge winners.  I’m so humbled to be chosen by such a talented group of artists.  Thank you so much GDPC!  Please check out the winning announcement here.

Colour Challenge with Perfectly Plaid SNEAK PEAK

8 / 25 / 198 / 31 / 19

Hello!  Today, I am sharing a handmade card using the Perfectly Plaid bundle from the 2019 holiday catty, as a SNEAK PEAK!   I am also following a create challenge from Hand Stamped Sentiments using one of Stampin’ Up’s new In-Colours: Pretty Peacock.  I’m so thankful for these challenges as I find colour matching to be so hard at times.  Here is the challenge…

img_0729

And since the new Stampin’ Up holiday catty is coming out soon, I thought I would share a sneak peak of some of the items.  Drum roll for the result please….

ezy watermark_25-08-2019_12-44-21am

This card uses the Perfectly Plaid stamp set and Pine Tree Punch from the soon-to-be released holiday catty by Stampin’ Up.  The background is created with the aqua painters for a water colour washed look.

ezy watermark_25-08-2019_12-43-36am

Can you see the ice shimmer glitter on the sides of the trees?  I just love how it completes the look by adding some dimension and shine to the card.  It reminds me of fresh snow, sitting on evergreen trees, just after a snowfall.  (Is it too early to think about snow?!)

ezy watermark_25-08-2019_12-43-01am

Finally, the Scalloped Lace Trim ribbon adds a nice touch behind the popped-up trees.  I know it’s still summer, but it’s not too early to think about the holidays, my favourite season for making cute paper projects!

UPDATE:  I’m super excited to announce that this card was chosen as one of the Challenge Artist Picks!  Thank you so much HSS!  Please check out the other design picks here.
