Hello! Today, I am sharing a creation from combining 2 design challenges! The first one is from Freshly Made Sketches and is a sketch challenge. The second one is from TGIF Challenges and is a colour challenge. By combining the challenges, I get to effectively “kill two birds with one stone”! I created one card that follows the sketch design while using the challenge colours below.
Drum roll for the result please….
This card uses the Sailing Home stamp set from Stampin’ Up, with the boats, birds and sentiment. The background is where I focused most of the attention of the card. The background was sponged with the 3 challenge colours to create the look of a sunset meeting up with a horizon of water.
The sentiment was stamped and cut out with a circle stitched die. I added some fun vellum “waves” behind the circle to create the banded look, from the sketch.
I also stamped the 3 boats onto the background and coloured them with Blends markers. Wink of Stella adds sparkle to the sails, as I imagined real sails would have reflections from the water. Rhinestones add some ‘bling’ to the card and finishes the look.
This card can be given as a nice thought, for someone going through rough time. It would also be great for the water or boat lover. Wouldn’t it be nice to be out sailing, now that it’s summer?
